Once or twice I have seen people waiting for work – grown men standing on the corner looking hopeful for a day’s pay. At least I think they are looking for work, they look hopeful. Somewhere they may be being used for their strength to carry bricks or planks or tip cement,  I don’t know but they stand there in my neighborhood like something from the past a while ago when men stood in line for work for money, for food.
